Web Journalism

Entertainment and the Internet:

While interning for the Celebrity Cafe website, I graciously worked with talented editors, who taught me how to ideate content for the internet; a completely different platform from print journalism.

I wrote fifteen articles each week regarding my favorite topic: Entertainment.

Sarah Meltzer

TLC’s Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro may be demoted to concession attendant after allegedly being arrested for a DWI, Thursday morning. Considering the show features over the top cake decorating, fans are curious to see what kind of cake will be made for his court date.

According to NBC New York, police stopped his 2014 yellow corvette on 10th avenue, New York City around 1am after reportedly swerving through traffic.

Once pulled over, it was announced that Valastro was unsteady when trying to step out of his car. With a flushed face and bloodshot eyes, the cake boss failed his breathalyzer test and was taken into custody.

As ABC News reported, ‘Cake Boss’ was a big hit in 2009 with its premiere on the learning channel. The show follows Buddy Valastro, who took over his father’s pastry business in 1994, and his new store, “Carlo’s Bakery” located in New Jersey.

His amazing cake building skills and highly entertaining family featured on the show have contributed to the TLC spinoffs, ‘Kitchen Boss’ and ‘The Next Great Baker.’

Joan River’s Fashion Police Replacement

The fate of ‘Fashion Police’ is on the line. After our loss of the late and great, Joan Rivers, producers have been pondering the thought of a new host. Although no one could ever officially replace the former fashionista, it doesn’t hurt to try. After all, Fashion Police fans need a new foul-mouth fashion icon to idolize.

The popular show on E, hosts a panel of celeb judges who publicly praise or criticize the fashion choices of people in popular culture. Whether it be a red carpet event or a simple stroll on the street, Big Brother (AKA Fashion Police) is prepared to report on the celebrity’s life altering choice of outfit.

‘Fashion Police’ includes segments such as Guess me from Behind, Who wore it better, and Celebrity or Streetwalker? Throughout the one hour show, celebrities are scrutinized on the way they look, prioritizing appearance over personality. Obviously, this makes for great reality TV.

With Rivers leaving a huge legacy behind, who could possibly fill the comedian’s fashion forward shoes?

Who Will Play Hedwig?

From sociopath to singer

Who would think that the new cast member to play a Transgender German Rock God would be he who played a psychopathic killer?

Making this drastic change in his career, Michael C. Hall, star of Dexter, is rocking his way to Broadway as Hedwig in ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch.’ Rather than the blood splatter of a murder being his usual form of makeup, it should be interesting to see Hall in head to toe drag attire.

According to Broadway.com, Hall will be making his debut as Hedwig on Oct. 16 in Broadway’s Belasco Theater. Hall is replacing Andrew Rannells.

So far, ‘Hedwig and the Angry inch’ has been receiving rave reviews, making it to the top of everyone’s Broadway bucket list.

The New York Times described the eccentric musical as, “Foulmouthed, electrically tuneful and furiously funny.” However, the attention that Neil Patrick Harris received as the original Hedwig in this revival delivered huge heels to fill and a question to answer: Can Hall handle the pressure as he struts into Harris’s bedazzled shadow?
